Stephanie Courson is a self-professed lifelong learner. She received her bachelors degree from the University of Florida in 2006 and received her masters degrees in elementary education from Rollins College in 2011 and in reading education from the University of Central Florida in 2016. She has also qualified to be an Educational Therapist at the Associate Level through the Association of Educational Therapists (AET) and is a Level 1 Handwriting Without Tears® Certified Handwriting Specialist.
Stephanie has undergone rigorous and extensive training in methodologies specific to dyslexia and specific learning disabilities, including 32.5 hours of official Lindamood-Bell® workshop attendance for the LiPS phoneme sequencing program for spelling and reading and the Visualizing and Verbalizing program for language comprehension. Most recently, Stephanie has completed 40 hours of training in the DuBard Association Method® through the Dubard School for Language Disorders at the University of Southern Mississippi. The DuBard Association Method® is a language-based multisensory structured sequential program for students with language-based disorders and is accredited by the International Dyslexia Association and the International Multisensory Structured Language Educational Council (IMSLEC). She is currently in the process of completing her practicum to become a Certified Academic Language Practitioner at the teaching level through the Academic Language Therapy Association.
Her passion is providing research-based instruction and intervention in reading to all students. She has taught sixth, first, kindergarten, and third grade in both Orange and Seminole County for six years. She also has served as a support facilitator in Seminole County providing small group intervention to young readers, including readers with disabilities. She lives with her wonderful husband who is also a teacher and beautiful three-year-old daughter in Orlando. To her husband she owes a great deal as he has been her support as she pursues her dreams.
